If you like east Asian sweets and confectionary, you have to stop by Tahoora if you are in the Chicago area. They are know for their "mithai" (confectionery and desserts of the Indian subcontinent).
Its a modern and clean looking place with cases of sweets and confectionary. You can make mix boxes, get any item you like by weight. They also serve some savory snacks and chai. Although I have not had any or their savory stuff, I am a fan of their sweet stuff.
You get in line and order whatever you want from the person behind the counter. There are gift boxes or you can just get it by the pound. All the sweets are freshly made in house. They also have zero sugar varieties of some of their most popular items.
We got some kalakand, barfi and jalebi and all of it was very good. Fresh and tasty.
Every time we drive to Chicago, we stop by on the way back and grab a few goodies to bring back with us.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Fatima K.San Diego, CA04337Mar 10, 2024

Our roll was not fresh, beef was so hard, i think i chipped a tooth. The falooda cup size is shrinking and ice cream takes days to melt. all male Staff are friendly enough. Spacious seating and clean.

ate from here, I got sick. My recent purchase from this place was a falooda which had a frozen bottom (it wasn't ice). It seems like they freeze the noodle part just to avoid preparing it fresh for each order. Anyway, the taste was like a 5-year-old made it, and the old frozen part was probably expired. As soon as I had it, I got very sick. I really wanted to go back and talk to these people, but they have some arrogant workers, and I believe the owner hires bad employees due to his penny-pinching."

One of my favorite sweets and streetfood spots on Devon. The kulfi here are very good, so is the falooda. I've also tried their various samosas and puff pastries and have never been disappointed. The tamarind chutney packets are great. The ras malai here are some of the softest and most decadent ones I've ever tasted, the ras is velvety smooth and divine. Will always make it a point to stop here every time I visit Chicago.

It a great place for traditional Indian sweets and savory snacks. My go to place when craving veggie samosas and Mango Lassi. Its still carry out counter service post pandemic but the service is quick and food is constantly being refreshed. I may have stopped there during Ramadan, its a great place to get snacks for when you break your fast.
Downside for me. I love the sauce. Hate the packets but there kinda was a pandemic. So I get itHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Asif K.Chicago, IL0142Nov 4, 2023
They should stick to sweets only, which they are very good at. Because anything else you order here pretty much sucks. We ordered papari chaat and samosa chaat and there mostly yogurt with sauces with 12 chick peas and a tiny samosa. For the best papari chaat and samosa chaat head over to king sweets about half a block away.

Definitely my favorite spot on Devon to just get together after a good meal. When it cold outside you can come in here and grab a chai to warm you up. All three times I came here I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and casual dining experience with my friends. I was able to get some really good methai, which means sweets, and always got more than I really needed.
My suggestion would be to try one of everything hahah but remember sharing is caring to why not take a to go order for a family friend or relative that is local. If you don't have any local family or friends you can definitely take some back with you on the ok the plane.
I enjoy this police for the sweets and mainly for the chai, but they also have a full menu and kitchen, so it's not just about desserts. I can't speak for the rest of the food because I only come here for the after tummy party.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
