Twenty-six-year-old Suwanee resident Charity Witt knows the importance of perseverance.

Nine years ago, after suffering a heart attack at work and subsequently being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, she was given a choice: at 17, undergo pacemaker surgery and be on medication the rest of her life, or get in shape and stop “abusing (her) body by working 80 hours a week.”
