IN PREPARATION FOR THE FEAST OF
ST. ANTHONY, OR THE 3-DAY TRIDUUM OR A 9-DAY NOVENA

1. Glorious St. Anthony, recognizing the unworthiness of the earthly things, thou didst renounce all desire of honors and consecrated thyself to the service of God. Help my weakness that I may correspond with God's graces and His Divine inspirations. Grant me, I implore thee, the grace which I am asking if it is the will of God. Though unworthy, yet help me for the faith which I have in the prayers offered for me by the Rogationist Fathers and those associated with them, especially the children and the seminarians.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

2. Thy heroic humility, O great Saint, encourages me to ask thine intercession and I am sure that thou willest give heed to my humble prayer. Obtain for me a profound and sincere humility that I may please our Lord and grant me the grace which I am asking not through my merits, but for the trust which I have in the prayers offered for me by the Rogationist Fathers and those associated with them, especially the children and the seminarians.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

3. O admirable St. Anthony, whose love of God has astonished the Angels; I ask thee, enflame my heart that I may correspond faithfully to the Divine service. For thy ardent love of Jesus, I beg thee to console my broken heart by granting me the grace which I am ardently imploring through the intercession of the prayers offered for me by the Rogationist Fathers and those associated with them, especially the children and the seminarians.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

4. O dearest St. Anthony, thy charity and apostolic zeal were so great that thou consecrated everything in order to help thy neighbor in their spiritual and temporal needs. Pray God that I may abound in the spirit of charity, but especially for the salvation of souls and the help of the poor. Grant me this grace, I beg thee, for the promise I make to help those in need through the devotion of St. Anthony's Bread

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

5. O glorious St. Anthony, through that exceeding affection which thou hast for the August Queen of Heaven, whose lofty and singular merits thou preached with great fervor, obtain for me, I beseech thee, a true devotion to our dear Heavenly Mother, so that she may deliver me from the increasing dangers of this life. Shield me with thy unceasing patronage not through my merits, but for the help I am giving to those entrusted to the care of the Rogationist Fathers, especially the children and the seminarians.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Pray for us, St. Anthony,

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray.

O God, may the votive commemoration of blessed Anthony, Thy confessor, be a source of joy to Thy Church, that she may always be fortified with spiritual assistance, and deserve to enjoy eternal rewards. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SHORT PRAYERS TO ST. ANTHONY

SAINT ANTHONY, RESTORER OF SPEECH TO THE MUTE

Dear St. Anthony, how tongue-tied I can be when I should be praising God and defending the oppressed. My cowardice often strikes me dumb; I am afraid to open my mouth. St. Anthony, Restorer of Speech to the Mute, release me from my fears. Teach me to praise God and to champion the rights of those unjustly treated. Please remember also all my intentions.

[Name them.]

SAINT ANTHONY, CONSOLER OF THE AFFLICTED

Dear St. Anthony, comforting the sorrowful is a Christian duty and a work of mercy. By word, attitude, and deed I should try to brighten their days and make their burden easier to bear. St. Anthony, Consoler of the Afflicted, may I remember when helping someone in sorrow that I am helping Christ Himself. Kindly mention my pressing needs to Him.

[Name your special intentions].

SAINT ANTHONY MARTYR OF DESIRE

Dear St. Anthony, thou didst become a Franciscan with the hope of shedding thy blood
for Christ. In God's plan for thee, thy thirst for Martyrdom was never to be satisfied. St. Anthony, Martyr of Desire, pray that I may become less afraid to stand up and be counted as a follower of the Lord Jesus. Intercede also for my other intentions.

[Name them.]

SAINT ANTHONY, PERFORMER OF MIRACLES

Dear St. Anthony, thy prayers obtained miracles during thy lifetime. Thou still seemest to move at ease in the realm of minor and major miracles. St. Anthony, Performer of Miracles, please obtain for me the blessings God holds in reserve who serve Him. Pray that I may be worthy of the promises my Lord Jesus attaches to confident prayer.

[Mention your special intentions.]

PRAYER TO ST. ANTHONY FOR LOST ARTICLES

Dear Saint Anthony, thou art the patron of the poor and the helper of all who seek lost articles. Help me to find the object I have lost so that I will be able to make better use of the time I will gain for God's greater honor and glory. Grant thy gracious aid to all people who seek what they have lost-----especially those who seek to regain God's grace. Amen.
