May 18, 2024This light kit was really fantastic with some pros and cons that are worth sharing.
On the pro side, it looks amazing. It also has a switch inside so that the upper stages don't light up until they are separated, which is very neat.
On the cons side...
* The build itself was fairly challenging as their instructions don't have a follow-along video or many words. I would prefer a video and more text. My tip is, anywhere it says to wrap cables around each other, take the time and actually braid them, it's really necessary and no alternative will do.
* Once the build is complete, it affects the stability of the whole craft when standing on the bottom boosters, as they're now all wobbly due to the extra thickness of the wire. One of my boosters snapped off with the LED the first time I stood it up, but thankfully it came with a spare LED and I was able to swap it out. But swapping it out is difficult because of the way they jam a rod and wire through each booster, and it was extremely difficult. I pray I never have to do that again!
I think the final thing I'd state is that I hadn't settled on how I'd display this piece before buying. If you're going to have it horizontal, like my video shows, then this set is absolutely worth it. If you're standing it up and putting it in an IKEA cabinet with cotton smoke/other lights, it's not worth it, because these lights won't be visible (and in fact mine are no longer plugged in for that reason).
It's still a great set and I'm glad we have it.

December 4, 2023This set is absolutely phenomenal. It's a great build experience, and a great display piece.... or at least it would be a great display piece if so many of the white bricks weren't tinted yellow! When I got this set I noticed immediately that many of the white pieces had a yellow tint to them. I wasn't happy about it, but let it go. Since then, the model has sat on display in my bookshelf, out of any direct sunlight. In fact, it's in a north facing room that never has direct sunlight, and yet, the pieces that originally were tinted yellow, are now obviously yellow! It's truly disappointing that Lego would produce a set with pieces like this. Anyone buying this set needs to be forewarned. I have no idea if this was a limited defect, or if all of the sets are like this. Just know you're taking a chance if you buy this set!

April 23, 2023This has been my first experience adding a light kit to a Lego build and it’s been a good one. First of all, I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the light kit when it arrived. Nicely designed and good quality packaging. While installing the kit I noticed that all the parts were also of a very decent quality. The pieces and wires are very small, thin and feel a bit delicate, but nothing got damaged, even when handled a bit rough. The connections fit only one way and everything fits fine and feels securely attached. The instructions for this kit were clear enough. Sometimes you have to look twice or zoom in to see the pictures more clearly, but it was fine. I found that installing this was quite easy, especially because there is quite some repetition in fitting the LEDs in the engines. Do one engine and you fly through the rest of them. I had real fun lighting up the Saturn V, and it looks really cool when finished. I did add a LMB dimmer board to the mix, because I found the LEDs to be a bit too bright for my taste, especially because of the flickereffect which could be distracting at times in my dimly lit office/hobbyroom while watching TV. Now with the dimmer doing it’s dimming it’s more of subtle candle flicker. Got it powered up with the LMB power supply on a Philips Hue Smart Plug. Recommended! :-)
An Epic Final Product with some Flaws

January 9, 2023Building stage 1 of the rocket was a bit of a challenge as everything is flimsy and can easily fall apart, but ends up solid in the end. After a few failures with things falling apart, I learned to be a little bit more delicate understanding this. Just take some extra care and the build is fine.
There are some really interesting techniques used and I feel like I learned some things along the way. There are some long vertical sections in building stage 1 of the rocket where I could not get them to line up and click in in the middle without removing some of the rounded 2x3 pieces. It feels like they should have been put on before all of the larger 2x3 rounded piece sections were done. It was done that way during building stage 2 of the rocket and was much better and easier to do.
Overall this set is really nice to look at and the build experience was unique, challenging, and fun.
The finished set is not that playable. I have had a couple of occasions where trying to separate the lower section has resulted in the top sections flying off and crashing to the ground. It is much more of a display piece but still awesome none the less.
The value is really great as you get quite a bit for the money.
