Great idea but lacks quality - discolored bricks
AmbassadorGrandPineapple· Review provided by LEGO · February 15, 2023
I was excited to get this kit and put a lot of effort into it. It is impressive but there are some issues you need to be aware of. First, some of the "fit" is not that great. There are a number of areas where pieces are either too tight or too loose. Second, and by far the worst is the lack of color-fastness of the bricks, specifically white. I noticed immediately the white brocks had a dirty, dull, or yellowish appearance. I was surprised at this knowing Lego quality but thought it was meant to be that way. Over time though, with the model being kept completely out of direct and even indirect sun, the model has become unattractively yellowed, and I don't even want to buy a case for it now. It's almost ugly. I am currently in a conversation with Lego about it and they claim I am responsible for the damage and are directing me to their site to buy my own replacement bricks. So this is a great model but if the white color is off when you buy it - take it back immediately. This is a known problem (search on it) and Lego has a canned response (excuse) to give you.
Iconic build

Seeing as this is a retired product I managed to source elsewhere. I had an Airfix kit back in the ‘70s which I built with my Dad who has since passed away. Sadly the kit was lost years ago but having rekindled a desire for Lego recently I thought this kit would be a reminder of those days.
The build was great fun and I chuckled at the fact that there are 1969 pieces - a nod to the year of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Nice touch!
If you can find a reseller (there are a few out there) then get your hands on a great piece of history.
This model is a must for any builder - you won’t be disappointed!

Spoke to the shop after hours and he was prepared to help. I wasn’t aware of the ‘outlet’ version which saves a bit. He asked what I was going to do with the box, I had no plans to keep it. I learnt during our conversation that there are Lego fans who want to keep the box fully intact. My Saturn V arrived in an undamaged outer box and the Lego box was also intact save for any film wrapping. Great service from this store. They care about the customer. It’s a Christmas present so I can’t comment on the build but I’ve already watched several YouTube clips. I followed Apollo missions from the age of 12. It’s great to be a kid again!!
[Rewarded Review] Great & accurate model

I have always been a space fan and keen Lego builder so buying this set was a no-brainer! It has over 1900 pieces, so it took a while to assemble.
The rocket can be divided into 3 parts; just like the real thing. It also comes with a lunar lander landscape on the moon. The set comes with three identical microfigures of the three astronauts; Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins & Buzz Aldrin. Finally there is the Columbia pod, which has landed into the ocean, along with circular orange pieces to symbolise the inflatables.
The set is very accurate to the actual rocket, with the only difference I noticed being the fact that the top part of the rocket splits into 2 halves instead of 4 quarters.
Overall, it is a great build and I definetally recommend it.
