A twisted paedophile raped and murdered a three-year-old girl just an hour after he was pictured playing with her at a children's birthday party.
Vladica Rajkovic has been jailed for 40 years after kidnapping little Angjelina Stefanovic.
Following his arrest, the 28-year-old confessed to police that he had also murdered his mistress because he found her "pushy and annoying".
A chilling photograph shows depraved Rajkovic, from the village of Vratarnica in Serbia, playing with the little girl while 'entertaining' children at the pary.
In the picture he is surrounded by youngsters - one is clamped on his back, while Angjelina is seen crouching down in front of him.
A court heard how he snatched the child from the party and took her to woods, 700 metres from the village.
When it was noticed that Angjelina is missing, Rajkovic’s father called him to ask if he knew where she was.
The call was interrupted by the sound of the little girl screaming in the background before the line went dead.
Angjelina would not stop crying as Rajkovic attacked her, so he beat her with a large rock until she was silent.
He then continued to rape her .
During the harrowing trial at the high court in the city of Zajecar, in eastern Serbia, Rajkovic denied murdering the three-year-old girl in July last year.
He claimed her death was an accident and that he was carrying her while walking and fell over, causing the fatal injuries.
But he was found guilty and sentenced for both that crime and the murder of neighbour Dragana Stankovic, 47.
Rajkovic admitted to officers that he had murdered her then dumped her body in the Timok River, in the eastern part of Serbia near the border with Bulgaria.
The paedophile, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison, showed no regret as the sentence was handed down.
