The subject of the movies ranged from art and culture, politics and corruption, democracy, gender women to romance and horror, Hanu Roj, founder-director of the festival, said.

"Beyond Boundaries" was screened on the opening day of the festival on May 17 and it received a good response.

Written and directed by filmmaker Kamal Nathani, "Beyond Boundaries" is a story set against the backdrop of the Kashmir conflict between India and Pakistan.

"The movie is all about hope, peace, survival and the value of human life. It is a modern day story. Though the story is set in the backdrop of the ongoing Kashmir problem prevailing between India and Pakistan, it has an international appeal because terrorism is not restricted to just one nation," he said.

Short films, documentaries, feature and animation films were also screened.

"Film directors, story writers, artists and students are participating in the festival at Golcha cinema," the festival director added.
