After launching a crackdown against Romeos and abattoirs, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mahant Yogi Adityanath has now banned wearing of jeans and T-shirts for the state government employees during duty hours.The saffron CM has also banned chewing of paan masala and gutkha in government offices, schools and colleges and has directed removal of all paan shops from close vicinity.Acting on the government's direction, the Bareilly District Magistrate has banned jeans and T-shirts for district employees while on official duty. "No more wearing of jeans and T-shirts. We have directed all government employees to attend office in a formal dress code only," Surendra Singh, DM Bareilly told DNA.The DM has also directed all department heads to issue a formal order in this regard. "It is not only about a formal dress code, they have been asked to attend office in time and dispose off files as speedily as possible with proper noting of date and time of disposal. Laxity will no longer be tolerated under the new regime," warned Singh.During an inspection visit to Baheri, a tehsil in Bareilly, the DM found that majority of the tehsil employees were in a casual dress wearing jeans, T-shirts, and sneakers. Singh fired (asked them to leave or let them off after a warning?) these employees and reminded them of the Yogi-government order."Anyone coming without wearing formals will be marked absent and salary of a day will be deducted", warned the CMO, Bareilly. In his order no 2016-17/831 dated March 22, 2017, the CMO also spelled out a dress code for male and female government employees – pant-shirt and saree- salwar suit respectively.Taking his moral policing ahead, the new Chief Minister on Thursday banned smoking, gutkha, use of mobile and wearing of informal dresses during school hours. The education department has already issued guidelines, explaining all dos and donts, to all schools and colleges in the state.Principals of all schools and colleges have been directed to ensure proper hygienic conditions in their school premises.Station House Officers of all police stations have been directed to ensure removal of all paan shops within close vicinity of educational institutions and act tough against the 'Romeos' hanging in the vicinity of girl schools and colleges.Teachers have also been asked to make eve-teasing complaints directly to the CM office if the police wasn't able to tackle the problems.Earlier, Yogi had made a surprise inspection visit to Hazratganj police station to get a first-hand feel of functioning of thanas. He talked to constables on duty and asked them if there was any work pressure.The CM stressed the need for quick action on every FIRs and complaints lodged with the police. Before Yogi, former Chief Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh was the only CM to have ever visited a police station in 1967.
