Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has suffered broken ribs after being involved in a car crash in Amsterdam on Thursday night.
Aguero, who was in Holland to attend a concert of Colombian singer-songwriter Maluma, was riding in a taxi when the vehicle crashed into a pole. City later confirmed their striker had 'sustained injuries' during the incident, but he has yet to return to England after requiring hospital treatment.
Aguero, 29, is thought to have escaped more serious injuries because he was wearing his seatbelt during the incident, which is said to have happened while he was making his way back to the airport.

Leonel Del Castillo, Aguero's father told TyC Sports: 'The taxi was driving very fast, Kun (Aguero) asked him to slow down, put on his seat belt and crashed instantly. He was lucky. They put him on painkillers, he was released and taken to Manchester.'
Speaking during his press conference on Friday lunchtime, manager Pep Guardiola admitted he has yet to speak to Aguero but did confirm his injuries will keep him out of this weekend's game.
'He cannot play tomorrow and maybe he won't go to the international break,' Guardiola said. 'The first impression is that he's broken the rib. Exactly how many days he'll be off I don't know.
'He's OK. What matters now if he's healthy. It doesn't matter if he can play or not, just that he's OK.'
City trained at 11am on Friday morning, without Aguero, ahead of their Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
It is understood Aguero's accident occurred at around 11pm on Thursday as he travelled back to the airport.
He was treated in hospital in Amsterdam and is due to travel back to Manchester early Friday afternoon.
Reports in Argentina say the forward could face up to two months out with his injuries, following the accident involving the Chrysler PT Cruiser he was being driven in.
On Friday he tweeted: 'Thank you with all my heart for the supportive messages, they really do help me in recovering'.
Premier League leaders City face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but Aguero appears unlikely to be involved at this stage.
Aguero has been in sparkling form so far this season, scoring seven goals in all competitions and moving just a goal shy of Eric Brook's all-time scoring record for City.
He scored a hat-trick in his side's 6-0 victory at Watford on September 16 and backed that up with another goal on Saturday when he netted against Crystal Palace, but missed from the spot on Tuesday night during his side's 2-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
Earlier on Thursday evening, Aguero took to Instagram to post an image of himself alongside Maluma, thanking the Colombian star for the invitation to the concert, held at the city's AFAS Live venue, which sits in the shadow of Ajax's Amsterdam Arena.
Maluma also posted an image of Aguero signing a Manchester City shirt for him, with the caption 'long live football and friendship, thanks for the detail'.
His former club in Argentina, Independiente, said on Twitter: 'Strength and fast recovery. All Independiente is with you at this difficult time.'
His injury is another blow for a City side already missing left back Benjamin Mendy, who is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury.
