Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro, and Redmi Y2 to get Android Pie update: Release date, what’s new & more

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Y2 and more phones from the Chinese maker have been listed for Android Pie Beta testing, hinting at Android Pie beta update to roll out soon by Xiaomi.

Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro and more to get Android 9 Pie update soon

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi Y2 are some of the most popular smartphones from the Chinese smartphone maker. While these smartphones have been receiving regular MIUI updates, they might soon be getting the Android 9.0 Pie update as well, if a recent report is to be believed.

In a recent development, Xiaomi has posted a list of smartphones on the MIUI China forum which will be part of the Android Pie Beta testing in China and while the testing will be limited to Xiaomi’s home-country for now, the Android Pie beta update based on MIUI is expected to land in India as well, once the beta testing is done with. For the unaware, users have to enroll themselves for beta testings and during the testing phase, Xiaomi will be uncovering all the bugs or problems with the new update.

Coming to the list of smartphones, which are eligible of the Android Pie Beta testing in China include Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Y2, Mi Mix, Mi 2, Mi Mix 2S, Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, Mi Max 3, Redmi 5, Redmi 5A and more. Xiaomi is yet to share some details in regards to the MIUI Global ROM, however, since the beta testing has started, the Chinese smartphone maker is also expected to update MIUI Global ROM to Android 9.0 Pie for all the smartphones including in this list.

It should also be noted that Xiaomi recently updated all its smartphones launched in 2018 to Android Oreo while it has promised that the MIUI update for old devices such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Mi 5.
