The Indian team for the Test series against West Indies has been announced with BCCI making plenty of interesting selections.

BCCI announced the squad for the two-Test match series against the Windies on Saturday. The squad will see Virat Kohli leading the Indian team again. While Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped for the series, Prithvi Shaw has retained his place ni the squad. In other interesting selections, Mayank Agarwal has received his maiden Test call-up in the squad along with Shardul Thakur and Hanuma Vihari also getting themselves selected for the series. 

With Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah both being rested, the team management has picked up the likes of Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj along with Test regulars Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami.  Mohammed Siraj has, in fact, received his maiden Test call-up. Who is Mohammad Siraj (2.6 Crore) 

Siraj came into limelight after he was bought for 2.6 crores in IPL auction 2017 by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He repaid the faith of his franchise by taking 10 wickets in the campaign with a best of 4 for 32. 

Debut call and performance 

His successful performance in the IPL, earned him his maiden Team India call-up as he made his T20I debut against New Zealand. He has played three T20Is so far and has picked up 3 wickets. His last T20I game for India was against Bangladesh in the Nidahas Trophy which was played out in Sri Lanka, where India eventually went onto win under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. 

Performance in unofficial Test matches against Australia and South Africa A

He recently shone for India A in unofficial Test matches against Australia A and South Africa A where he took 25 wickets in 3 matches. Thus, he made a strong case regarding his selection and finally earned his maiden Test call-up in the upcoming Test series against the Windies.  

 Bought by RCB in 2018 for (2.6 Crore):

His IPL success in 2017 made the RCB owners take notice of him and rope him in the next IPL edition, where he was sold for an amount of Rs 2.6 Crore. He took 11 wickets in the T20 league.
