Virat Kohli-led team India is currently facing the number four conundrum in the batting order with the likes of Suresh Raina, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul all failing to impress at the spot. In the ongoing tour of England, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik have been tried on the particular batting position but they are yet to produce a performance which can convince skipper Kohli.
At the time of crisis, Kedar Jadhav has boosted his chances of making it back into the team by assuring that he will soon start playing after recovering from the hamstring injury he suffered during the Indian Premier League. He picked up an injury while playing for Chennai Super Kings in the opening encounter against Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He underwent a surgery in Melbourne, Australia and is set to make a comeback to the cricketing pitch in a few weeks.
"Rehab (rehabilitation) is good. Another maximum two-three weeks and I will be fit and start playing. I am allowed to bat now also, but because of rain, I am not able to. In two weeks I will start playing," Jadhav was quoted as saying by the PTI. "I am recovering faster than expected, so I am happy," he added.
Jadhav who made his debut for the Indian team in November 2014 has played 40 ODIs, amassing 798 runs at an average close to 40. Apart from being a reliable option at the number four spot, Jadhav has also impressed with the ball and has shown he can be an effective part-time bowler. He revealed that it wasn't the third time he pulled his hamstring and that the injury was a recurring one.
"Yes it was a recurrent injury. Almost the third time, the same muscle was injured. I got injured first in December against Sri Lanka in Dharamshala, then in South Africa in the third ODI and then again in IPL," he said
The 33-year-old also stated that he was disappointed to have missed out on the IPL and the England tour due to injury but vowed to make a comeback into the national side. He added, that the injury helped him understand his body better and the importance of fitness as well.
