Lucknow: After two terrorists linked with Al Qaeda arrested from Lucknow's Kakori, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has said that he doesn't trust the action of the police and of the BJP government in the state.

When asked to comment on the development after the terrorists were arrested in UP, the SP chief said, "I can't trust the actions of the Uttar Pradesh police and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state."

His remarks came after the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested two Al Qaeda terrorists from the outskirts of Lucknow on Sunday. They were planning explosions, including using "human bombs", at several places in Uttar Pradesh, a senior official had said.

"ATS Uttar Pradesh uncovered a terror module and arrested two terrorists of Al-Qaeda's Indian subcontinent module. One has been arrested from Kakori Police Station, while the other has been nabbed from Mariahu Police Station, " said Prashant Kumar, ADG Law, and Order, Uttar Pradesh.

He also stated that the members of this module are not only from Lucknow but also from Kanpur in the state. Raids are being conducted at different places to apprehend associates of terrorists Ahmed and Maseeruddin, the ADGP had said.

"During interrogation, the accused persons said that their accomplices ran away from their house. The ATS team along with the local police has undertaken intensive checking," Kumar said and added that a case has been registered in this connection at the ATS station.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at all vital installations in the state, including airports. Checking at highways and bus stations has been intensified.
