IIT Bombay, Delhi have over 1000 seats - Check total seats available in 23 IITs for JEE Advanced 2020

JEE Advanced 2020 Counselling for over 12000 seats in 23 IITs would begin from tomorrow. Top IITs like IIT Bombay, Delhi, have over 1000 UG seats for B.Tech and other UG courses. Check list of Total IIT Seats.

JEE Advanced 2020 Results are now out and the counselling for admission to the premier engineering colleges would begin from tomorrow. Admission to Indian Institute of Technology, IITs would be done on the basis of JEE Advanced 2020 Rank, which has been released along with result. Over 43034 candidates have qualified and they would now get a chance to apply for over 12,000 seats available in 23 IITs across the country. While the Top IITs (which are also older and Zonal IITs)  like IIT Delhi, Bombay, Roorkee, BHU and Kharagpur have over 1000 seats, the relatively newer IITs have limited number of undergraduate B.Tech seats. Older IITs also offer a multitude of other courses including integrate MSc courses, admission of which would be on the basis of JEE Advanced. Related | JEE Advanced 2020 Result Declared

JEE Advanced 2020: total number IIT JEE Seats in 23 IITs (in descending order)

In 2019, a total of 13674 seats were filled for the IITs. While the actual number of seats is about 12,432, from 2018 supernumerary seats are also added for female candidates as well as 10% quota for EWS candidates, which has increased the numbers. For 2020, the number of seats are expected to rise marginally.

From 2018, IITs have decided to induct female students, over and above the total number of seats available, to further the gender diversity of the premier technical institutes. The percentage of supernumerary seats are expected to increase this year as well.

About IITs

IITs are not only known for their excellent education but also their placement records. They have a track record of bagging best placements in the country. Recently three students of IIT Roorkee bagged a package of INR 1.54 crore which was the highest package received by any IITian till date. IIT Chennai has had the highest package of 95.87 LPA in its placement drive last year while IIT Bombay registered the package of 1.5 crores in its previous placement drive. So IITs have no competition when it comes to placement in India.
