The first thing you need to know is that this is a Sony game – and that means it's exclusive to PlayStation.

The official God of War release date is April 20, but when you'll be able to buy it depends on where you live.

In Europe and Australia, the launch day is listed as April 19, although no exact time is given.

On the west coast of America, you'll be able to play from 9pm PT.

On the east coast of America, gameplay begins first thing on April 20.

Really keen players will want to pre-load the game.

That means if you've already bought the game, you can get it downloaded and installed on your PS4 ahead of time.

By pre-loading it, you won't need to wait around once the game is actually available to play.

According to Sony, pre-loading for God of War begins on April 17.

However, there's no exact time listed, so we'd say it's worth giving it a go on April 18 instead.

To pre-load a game, simply buy the game digitally on the PlayStation Store and then hit 'download'.

It'll be installed to your system, but you won't actually be able to play it until the official release rolls around.

Whenever you get God of War, it's likely you'll be impressed.

The acclaimed franchise is back with a bang, with God of War 2018 landing as a long-awaited sequel to 2010's God of War 3.

For the first time ever, God of War is moving away from Greek mythology into a new Norse setting.

And early reviews for the game have already been extremely positive.
