Madhya Pradesh: BJP hands over resignation letters of 19 Congress MLAs to the Speaker

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has handed over the resignation letters of 19 MLAs from the Congress party to the Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. The MLAs had resigned after Jyotiraditya Scindia submitted his resignation from the party. He is expected to join the BJP soon.

Despite the obvious political connotations of the gesture, the BJP, for its part, claims that they are merely helping their colleagues in the Assembly. The BJP hasn’t yet sought an appointment with the Governor thus far. Reportedly, the Governor is currently in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh celebrating Holi and will be back to Bhopal soon.

After senior leader Jyotiraditya Scindia’s resignation from the party, 22 MLAs including six ministers had submitted their resignation. And reports are also coming in that over 200 workers of the Congress party have resigned in Gwalior. The city is the bastion of the Scindia family.

Meanwhile, Congress supporters have resorted to trolling Jyotiraditya’s son Mahanaryaman on social media for saying that he is proud of his father. Amidst all of this, the return of Shivraj Singh ‘Mamaji’ Chauhan to the seat of Chief Minister appears imminent.
