Punjab CM Amarinder Singh slams Navjot Sidhu for hugging Pakistan Army chief

A day after former cricketer and Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu attended Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony, criticism over his actions continues to flow. While the Congress party as a whole have been defending Sidhu’s actions as ‘personal decision’, senior Congress leader and Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has today come hard against Sidhu and stated that it was wrong for him to show such affection towards the Pakistan army chief while so many Indians soldiers are losing their lives.

CM Amarinder Singh states that while he does not want to comment on Sidhu’s personal decision to attend Khan’s oath-taking ceremony, hugging General Bajwa was completely wrong. He further added that almost every day some Indian soldiers are killed and regardless of who pulls the trigger, General Bajwa is responsible for it. CM Singh, a veteran himself, further added that his own regiment had lost a major and two soldiers a few months ago due to Pakistan.

Sidhu had earlier stated that he was a guest of honour and he had to sit where he was asked to sit. On hugging General Bajwa, he stated that he hugged him because General told him that they belong to the same culture and informed him that they have decided to open the Kartarpur border for Prakash Parv.

Yesterday, Sidhu was seen sitting beside the President of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. He was also caught hugging the Pakistan Army chief and for this, he was heavily criticised in Indian mainstream and social media. The BJP had stated that Sidhu hugging the man responsible for the death of hundreds of Indians is no less than a crime.
