Marseille are weighing up a move for Arsenal 's Mohamed Elneny .

The transfer window in England is closed but French clubs can still sign players until the end of the month.

And Marseille hope Egyptian anchorman Elneny, 26, might be available after seeing Arsenal increase competition for places in their midfield this summer.

Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi have arrived leaving Elneny facing a tough battle to start.

Elneny was on the bench in Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat against Manchester City, while Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Guendouzi started with Torreira coming on as a sub.

Elneny signed a new four-year contract in March, a move that has helped protect his value as his previous deal was due to run out in 2020.
