Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares warm relations with President Trump, although comments the U.S. leader recently made on India's decision to ban exports of hydroxychloroquine -- widely interpreted as a threat to India -- sparked a major controversy.

Trump later thanked PM Modi for India's decision to partially lift a ban on the export of the anti-malarial drug, which is in demand for its potential use in helping treat patients with the novel coronavirus.
