There seems to be no end to the tension between allies NCP and Shivsena. NCP's Shirur MP and actor Dr Amol Kolhe has sparked another controversy by saying that Shiv Sena must not forget that Uddhav Thackeray is on the CM's chair only because of Sharad Pawar's blessings.

"I have great respect for CM Uddhav Thackeray. Everyone knows who is voicing the concerns of this constituency in Loksabha. But if there is a single point agenda to criticise me and my colleagues and if it is done in the name of Uddhav Thackeray, then everyone must remember that he is the CM only because he has Sharad Pawar's blessings," Kolhe said.

Kolhe's statement came on the backdrop of the tug of war between him and former Shiv Sena MP Shivajirao Adhalrao-Patil, who was earlier the Parliamentarian from the Shirur Loksabha constituency, over the inauguration of the Khed-Narayangaon bypass in Pune district.

The bypass was inaugurated twice in two days owing to the credit war between the present and former MP. Both Kolhe and Adhalrao have claimed credit for the bypass project.

Adhalrao on Friday went on to inaugurate the road and alleged that Kolhe was trying to 'steal' the credit for his efforts over years. Adhalrao has represented the constituency twice, in 2009 and 2014, before losing out to Kolhe in 2019.

Kolhe, who is a popular TV face in Maharashtra for his portrayal of Shivaji and Sambhaji Maharaj, has always been at loggerheads with Adhalrao ever since he defeated him.

On Saturday, Kolhe re-inaugurated the bypass calling it an official inauguration function and went a step ahead while attacking Adhalrao. Kolhe, who incidentally was with the Shiv Sena prior to joining NCP, said that it was unbecoming of a senior citizen to behave childishly.

The Shiv Sena has not taken the remarks kindly. In a statement from spokesperson Kishore Kanhere, the party lashed out at Kolhe and the NCP. Sena questioned, "If Uddhav Thackeray is in power with Pawar's blessings, then with whose help is NCP in power?"

The Sena has further warned, saying, "Don't let the grapes of power turn sour ...".

"An actor, who is used to read out written dialogues, has perhaps forgotten that he is in politics because of the blessings of the same Uddhav Thackeray," Kanhere said in the statement.
