Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri fulfils her mother’s last promise, presents Re 1 coin to Harish Salve

Hours before her demise, former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, in a poignant conversation, had asked senior lawyer Harish Salve "to come and collect his fee of Re 1" for representing India at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

While representing India in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, Harish Salve, who build India's case from start, said that as a lawyer he is glad that the ICJ admitted India's arguments.

Salve also said that Pakistan is bound to give Jadhav a fair trial irrespective of the trial being held in a military court.

Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is still in custody, was held by the Pakistani government in March 2016 on charges of espionage.

In a memorable gesture, Sushma Swaraj's daughter Bansuri on Friday fulfilled her mother's last wish.

On Friday, Bansuri visited the senior lawyer and handed him a coin of Re 1 to him.

The heartwarming moment was shared by Sushma Swaraj's widower and former Governor Swaraj Kaushal on Twitter.

In a tweet, Swaraj Kaushal said, "Your daughter Bansuri has fulfilled your last wish today. She has presented Rs. 1 fee to Harish Salve in Kulbhushan Jadhav's case, which you had left."

BJP stalwart Sushma Swaraj passed away at the age of 67 in New Delhi on August 6 after she suffered from a fatal cardiac arrest.

The senior BJP leader had not been keeping well for a long time. She had a kidney transplant in 2016 but had managed to work through her recovery period.
