Shutdown in Kashmir valley on 3rd death anniversary of slain Hizb militant Burhan Wani
Restrictions have been imposed in parts of south Kashmir with heavy deployment of security forces.
A shut down is being observed in the Kashmir valley on the third death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani.
Separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Shah Gilani, Hilal War and many others are kept under house arrest.
Restrictions have been imposed in parts of south Kashmir with heavy deployment of security forces. Some areas of Srinagar are also kept under restriction. Mobile internet has been snapped in south Kashmir and the internet speed has been reduced to 2g in Srinagar.
Burhan Wani was killed on July 8, 2016, in Kokernag area of Anantnag district in a gunfight with the security forces.
Wani's death was followed by a Kashmir-wide unrest that lasted four months. Unruly mobs torched public property, beat policemen and torched vehicles of the security forces.
Bloody clashes between mobs and security forces resulted in the death of 98 protesters. Nearly 4,000 others were blinded permanently or partially because of pellet gunshot injuries.
