As Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) door-to-door Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) awareness programme began on Sunday, party's Lok Sabha MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur was seen interacting with locals in her constituency, Bhopal. She distributed pamphlets and spread awareness about the contentious Citizenship Act that has seen many protests across the country.

The BJP had on Friday announced that it will be launching a mega door-to-door campaign in support of controversial CAA across the country on January 5, with all senior leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party working president JP Nadda pitching in as star campaigners in different cities.

While interacting with India Today TV, Pragya Thakur said on Sunday, "Even though Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has maintained that CAA will not be implemented in the state, BJP believes he has no option but to implement it".

Meanwhile, Amit Shah is set to kick-off the door-to-door campaign in New Delhi while party's acting president JP Nadda will visit households in neighbouring Ghaziabad.

Similarly, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is visiting households in Lucknow, Roads and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be going door-to-door in Jaipur on the first day of the campaign.

The party has also launched a toll-free number for people to lend their support to the Citizenship Act.
