"Even if the Delhi government has to beg, I will personally beg for vaccines for the people of Delhi if the need arises," said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday.

Advocating for door-to-door vaccination, Arvind Kejriwal said the Centre should remove restrictions and allow states to open more vaccination centres and inoculate people of all ages.

"We will conduct door-to-door vaccination in Delhi if the central government permits it. We can vaccinate all of Delhi in three months," said CM Kejriwal.

He also said that the Prime Minister should set vaccination targets for all chief ministers depending on the population of respective states.

Can get infected even after getting vaccinated: Delhi CM

A person can get infected with Covid-19 even after getting vaccinated, said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Some reports of doctors getting infected with the coronavirus despite receiving both doses of the vaccine are true, Arvind Kejriwal told Aaj Tak on Sunday.

There are 37 such doctors in Delhi's Ganga Ram Hospital, he added.

He went on to say that available data suggest that the severity of infection among people who test positive after getting vaccinated will be very low. The disease will not be fatal in these cases and most will be asymptomatic, said Kejriwal.

States must be tasked with vaccination

Asked about the vaccination SOP, CM Kejriwal said the process has been centralised.

"All state governments are elected; they have their own doctors and experts. All state governments are responsible and will open vaccination centres and inoculate people on a large scale because they are directly accountable to the people," he said.

There were some shortages of hospital beds in Delhi in June of last year but the national capital braved peaks in September and November of last year because of a robust healthcare system in place, Arvind Kejriwal told Aaj Tak.

Arvind Kejriwal said, "We are prepared to deal with more cases than the ones we saw during peaks last year. If we face shortages, I will come clean before the public."

India sent 6.5 crore vaccines to 84 countries even as we are facing a shortage, said Arvind Kejriwal. He went on to say, "The first priority of the Government of India should be to vaccinate Indians. We can send vaccines to other countries once we do that."
