The city will get access to a landscape park, experience centre and cycling tracks along with over 130 million litres per day (MLD) capacity of sewage treatment facilities as chief minister Vasundhara Raje will dedicate Dravyavati riverfront project to the public on Tuesday. The inaugural event will be held at the beautification park developed at Shipra Path, Mansarovar and will witness fireworks, cultural music and delicacies from Masala Chowk.

A flagship project of the Raje government, the Dravyavati riverfront is being developed along a length of 47-kilometers across the city. The project includes the development of three theme parks and five sewerage treatment plants (STP)s of 170 MLD capacity. Of these, the ‘Beautification theme park’ at Shipra Path and three STPs of 130 MLD capacity will get dedicated to the public on Tuesday. “The two other parks, Bird Park at Panipech and Botanical Garden at Bambala are in the final stage and will soon be open for public,” says an official.

These parks and remaining STPs are expected to get commissioned over the next couple of months. It has been two years that the urban development authorities and a private developer have been able to revive the river that was reduced to a drain due to decades of encroachment.

Meanwhile, the inaugural event venue, the ‘Beautification Park’ at Shipra Path remained a busy site on Monday as final touches were being given ahead of inauguration. This park, along with its landscape beauty, also has an experience center to provide visitors an introduction to the project. The attractions at the experience centre include the largest aquarium in the city having living plants and a map to scale projection of the riverfront trajectory.

“The map has been mounted across two walls of the centre, it is an actual aerial view of the project as may appear on maps,” informs an official at the centre. Along with it, the centre also has photographs narrating the story of Dravyavati’s revival and an auditorium that will provide visitors an audiovisual tour of the project journey.

The project has been developed by a consortium of Tata Projects and SUCG infrastructure company at a cost of nearly Rs1600 crore.
