While Dabangg 3 releases on December 20, a reliable source has EXCLUSIVELY informed BollywoodLife that Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra will hit the silver screen, a week later, on December 27. Yes, the biggest clash of 2019 has been averted and we won't see Ranbir Kapoor's film locking horns with Salman's Dabangg 3 at the box office. There is a week's difference between these two big budget movies. Interestingly, December 27 is when Salman Khan celebrates his birthday, indeed a befitting date for Ranbir Kapoor’s next. Despite no-clash situation at the box office, Dabangg 3 will have to give way to Brahmastra at theatres, losing screen count in the second week. Karan Johar produced Brahmastra is mounted on a grand scale and is a sci-fi superhero fantasy.

Interestingly, in December 2018, we witnessed a similar situation with the release of Shah Rukh Khan-Katrina Kaif-Anushka Sharma starrer Zero and Ranveer Singh's cop drama Simmba. While Aanand L Rai's directorial released on December 21, Rohit Shetty's film, on the other hand, hit the cinema halls on December 28. Zero received a damp response, but Simmba shined bright at the box office, a week’s gap benefitted both the films. It remains to be seen if history will repeat itself this December, as Dabangg 3 and Brahmastra arrive to conquer the box office around Christmas.

Since the last few months, rumour mills were abuzz about the mega box office battle between Brahmastra and Dabangg 3. Quite recently, a DNA report suggested that the makers of Brahmastra were eyeing a 2020 release due to logistical issues. "There is a more practical reason. If Brahmastra doesn't release in December 2019, it will be mainly because its shooting is likely to go on till October. After this, the sci-fi thriller will get into post-production, which may take longer because the film is heavily dependent on VFX. In the past, every movie with heavy-duty visual effects has had to keep a buffer period due to the nature of the work involved," a source had informed the leading daily.

Contrary to all reports, it has been confirmed to BollywoodLife that Brahmastra will release in 2019 itself. The only difference being that the Ayan Mukerji directorial will not lock horns with the third installment of Dabangg at the box office.

Brahmastra, backed by Karan Johar under his banner Dharma Productions, stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Dimple Kapadia in lead roles. It is a trilogy and the first part will be out on December 27, 2019.
