Talib Hussain and his team of ‘activists’, had managed to create quite a stir in the nation after the rape and murder of a young girl from the Bakarwal community in Kathua. They had taken the heinous crime and used it to paint all the residents, the community and a religion in negative light. The incompetent Jammu and Kashmir police further elevated the problems for the accused in the crime by framing them in baseless accusations. The failure of Jammu and Kashmir police to make witnesses come to the courts during the hearing process lays bare the vendetta with which the investigation process had been carried out. It also did not take long for the facade of Talib Husaain and others to be exposed. The person who had been portrayed as the biological father of the victim turned out to be an impostor. Furthermore, he accepted that he was told to play the role of the victim’s father by Talib Hussain himself, in order to siphon off the funds which were coming from all over the country for the victim’s family. Talib Hussain himself was accused of domestic violence by his own wife, and now he has been arrested for rape.
On Wednesday the Jammu and Kashmir police arrested Talib Hussain over rape charges. The complainant who identifies herself as a relative of Hussain has accused him of raping her in forests of Samba district where she had gone to graze cattle. “The incident happened one and a half month ago, when victim resident of Chairawa Mansar went to nearby forest area for grazing cattle,” reads the FIR filed by the victim. The FIR further states, “the victim met with accused Hussain in jungle, where he (accused), with a sharp edge weapon in hand tried to rape her (victim) and touched her private parts but she managed to flee from the spot” The victim also accused Hussain of physical assault and threatening her of dire consequences if she revealed his wrongdoings to anyone or to the police. On the basis of this complaint, Talib Hussain was picked up by the Jammu and Kashmir police from Pulwama’s Tral area. He is reportedly being kept at Samba police station by the police team.
This is not the first time that Talib Hussain is facing charges. He has been accused of fraud and siphoning off funds meant for the Kathua victim’s family. The FIR filed against him by his wife and her family accusing him of domestic violence and demanding dowry expose his greed. His greed for money and for prominence had driven him to malign a whole community and religion in the Kathua rape case. The people who hailed him as a champion from Kashmir in the Kathua perhaps did not care about the intentions he had behind leading the campaign. Politics and greed drives people like Talib Hussain to manipulate the agenda, and some so called brainless celebrities from our country who take their words as the ultimate truth further boost their credibility. A separate police team should be formed to track all the wrongdoings of the champion of the Kathua case, it is as necessary to expose all his wrongdoings as it is to do justice in the Kathua case. He should also be kept inside jail for as long as possible for if left outside he will create further troubles for the society. He has earned jail time and public berating which should follow soon.
