Pratap Sarnaik to file Rs 100 crore defamation case against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya

Pratap Sarnaik to file Rs 100 crore defamation case against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya
Shiv Sena leader and MLA Pratap Sarnaik said that he will file a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya.

The development comes after Somaiya accused Sarnaik's Vihang Group of illegal construction in Thane.
Accusing Sarnaik of cheating middle-class home buyers, Somaiya alleged that the Sena MLA's Vihang Group constructed Vihang Garden Thane and in 2008, application for OC (occupation certificate) for 13 storey B1 and B2 was rejected.

"TMC Declared Both Buildings illegal. In 2012, Thane Municipal Corporation ordered the demolition of 9 to 13 floors. However, no action has been taken till now. OC is not received till date," he added.

He also asked Uddhav Thackeray and the TMC chief if any action will be taken.

However, Sarnaik has refuted all the allegations.

"Kirit Somaiya is trying to damage my reputation using a 10-year-old issue. Although the work of the OC has been delayed, the FSI has not been violated in the project. Since all the constructions are certified by the corporation, there is no question of unauthorized construction," said Sarnaik, adding he would file a defamation suit against the BJP leader.

"I will welcome Pratap Sarnaik's ₹100 crores notice of defamation," responded Somaiya.

Over a fortnight ago, Somaiya had asked why Sarnaik and family were running away from the ED investigation of Rs 175 Crore related to MMRDA and TOP Securities Fraud.

Last month, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided various premises linked to Sarnaik in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane and also searched his Thane Hiranandani Complex in connection with its money laundering case against a security service provider company and others.

Pratap Sarnaik and his son Vihang were also questioned by the Ed and have been summoned again.
