Differences in Mumbai Congress come to the fore again, Sanjay Nirupam targets Milind Deora
Ahead of the crucial state elections, differences among the Congress party's city leadership is once again out in the open with Sanjay Nirupum targeting Milind Deora.

Nirupam has targeted Deora, a day after the party appointed Eknath Gaikwad as the acting president of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC).
Deora had resigned soon after Rahul Gandhi quit as party chief taking responsibility of the Congress's debacle in the Lok Sabha elections.

"Removal of Milind Deora as MRCC President is an appropriate decision taken by @INCIndia, because he was not able to perform and energise the cadre," Nirupam said in a tweet.

Nirupam, who himself had been city Congress chief, before Milind Deora was appointed to the post, further added, "Assembly elections are just 40 days away. Acting president must take everyone into confidence to give #SSBJP a respectable fight.

He also tagged senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge in a tweet.

Deora, who is considered close to Rahul Gandhi and has hinted at taking up a central role, has not responded to the remarks so far.

However, on Friday, he said that he is happy that his "pending" resignation had been accepted.

"I am happy that my pending resignation as President of Mumbai Congress has been accepted. I am grateful to Congress for having been given the opportunity to serve Mumbai. I wish Eknath Gaikwad ji my very best," he tweeted.
