WayV stars must be protected! Fans rally behind K-pop idols of SM Entertainment Lucas, Xiaojun and Kun, who called out "sasaengs", which translates to "stalkers", who reportedly reached an undisclosed film location where the K-pop stars were partaking in a photoshoot for WayV.

Did sasaengs breach the privacy of the WayV artists?

On January 18, 2021, WayV idols Lucas, Xiaojun and Kun were filming on a site filled with snow for an upcoming schedule of the K-pop unit. Some stalkers called as ‘sasaengs’ reached the location (not disclosed for public) and started taking snaps of the K-pop stars. Lucas of SM Entertainment took it to the social media platform Dear. U Bubble to call out the sasaengs. The 21-year-rapper of NCT, SuperM, and WayV wrote,  “everyone, we are currently in the midst of filming but some of such people have come and the weather is also like this so why… this is so ridiculous, really. I’m so angry. But I’m sorry everyone, for suddenly being like this.”

Kun called them out for clicking pictures when the boys were heading to the washroom. Xiaojun shared pictures with the caption "so rude".

Protect WayV

After Lucas, Kun and Xiaojun shared images of the sasaengs invading their privacy and rudely taking up-close snapshots of the boys, fans started trending Protect WayV on social media to ask SM Entertainment for taking the safety of the K-pop idols more seriously. A fan wrote, “We demand to take legal action against malicious sasaengs invading #WAYV's privacy. wayv's has expressed their anger and discomfort over their privacy being violated several times already. Please take immediate action and protect your idols.” Another said, “please protect not only WayV, but all of your artists. People are disrespecting their privacy and it has gone too far. We would like to advise everyone to not repost the pictures and/or videos uploaded. Let us not support this kind of behavior. #PROTECTWAYV”

This isn’t the first time SM Artists are calling the sasaengs out. NCT’s Taeyoung called sasaengs out on a Vlive session for invading privacy. Check out the interaction here.

WayV, the Chinese sub-unit of NCT was formed in January 17, 2019, which consists of  seven members: Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, Yangyang.
