MUMBAI: The ruling Shiv Sena has decided to convert its local offices, referred to as Sena ‘shakhas’, into temporary clinics to treat patients.

Responding to directives given by party president and CM Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sena vibhag pramukhs in Mumbai have started working on the initiative. The party has instructed all its 227 shakha pramukhs in the city to collaborate with private physicians during the Covid-19 crisis.

Sena vibhag pramukh from South Mumbai Pandurang Sakpal told TOI that in the initial phase, three shakhas will be made operational as clinics in the next two days.

Meanwhile, in an attack on BJP on the first anniversary of the second term of NDA, the Sena on Monday said PM Modi is an “indispensable” leader but asked “if lives of those people who died unnecessarily during the 2016 note ban and the ongoing lockdown can be brought back again.”
