‘No marches, slogans post Ayodhya verdict’
AGRA: Ahead of the much awaited Ayodhya verdict, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has directed its workers across the nation not to take out processions or give reactions regarding the verdict irrespective of the judgment.
VHP senior leaders have instructed their workers to spread the message across the nation by organizing meetings at regional levels. The VHP office-bearers in the region have been asked to ‘restrict’ celebrations to their homes and temples if the judgment is in favour of the Ram Temple. In case it is against, then they should not give any reaction or raise provocative slogans giving others a chance to vitiate the atmosphere.
Confirming this, international joint general secretary of VHP SK Jain said that the purpose of this exercise is to maintain communal harmony in the country. “We all have to ensure an environment which does not lead to fissures between the two communities,” said Jain adding that everyone should accept the decision with full humility and honour.
Braj region vice-president of the organisation Sunil Parashar said they have also been directed to keep a tab on people who could defame the government by wearing ‘bhagwa’ clothes or carrying flags. During the meeting, the senior leaders asked all local office-bearers to inform the administration if any untoward incident occurs in their respective cities, he said.
Earlier, a similar exercise was undertaken by Muslim clerics in various districts of Uttar Pradesh. They have appealed to the community members to maintain peace and harmony irrespective of the verdict.
Aligarh Muslim University vice-chancellor Prof Tariq Mansoor and teachers’ association have appealed to all the sections of the society to avoid giving any controversial statement and refrain from rumour-mongering. They have asked everybody not to celebrate or resent the Ayodhya verdict.
