Google play store may be it's showing wrong figures for no of downloads for each and every apps.
Eg: some google apps required android 10 (minimum requirement) and up for download and use the app, but in google play store google app download figures it's showning no of downloads is 10,000,000,000+. How is possible ?.
If they required android version 10 (minimum requirements) then they should count the no of downloads from android 10 version not android 1-14 version.

It... moreI understand what you mean, as they could be categorized as the perfect middle ground between extreme Value for Money phones from Chinese companies and the more premium offerings from the likes of Samsung and Apple.
Then again, I think Google themselves view the Pixel series as more of a guide for other smartphone manufactures on how to build an Android phone, something like "Guys, this is what an Android phone should be and should feel like".
Therefore, they're not particularly focused on cramming in the best chip or the best screen at the price range, but rather how the whole package comes together, so that one standout feature doesn't overshadow the others, or that one bad feature doesn't hold the other features back.

The performance is flagship and includes wonderful Google technology. Plus, the Pixel 7a started at the same $499.95 and the price dropped over time anyway. Paying less money for a device that is also literally a brick and offers mediocre cameras and software but has a flagship chipset doesn't necessarily make you a smarter buyer.

Considering you can get the 8 for ~500 now why would anyone buy a worse phone for the same price? Is Google delusional?
8a should be 350 bux tops. At least, in Europe where there's huge competition on the low-end and mid-range Android market.

I am curious if it will have sw lock on camera features same as regular 8 does.
But the starting price ... it almost explains why the local resellers gradually increased price of Pixel 8 by 50-100€ in the last 3 months. They need to create the gap back up.

The prices sound pretty normal. $499.95 is normal for a Pixel 'a' series device and is a great deal considering that the device will also receive 7 years of software updates just like its more expensive older siblings. For the first time there is 256GB for the Pixel 'a' series and that model will be just $50 more expensive than the base Pixel 8 with 128GB.

500€?forget it, only unaware and not informed people buy at this price
Last few years all manufacturers have adopted the strategy of set high MSRP and then discount it heavily to sale
Combine with teleoperators and you get them basically for free, sometimes for a negative price (meaning you "make money")
Its shitty practices, I personally wouldn't botther with such nonsence if I had a phone sellong company, just devaluates your products value and makes you seen as a cheap peoduct manufacturer
