Setting a record on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, India administered more than 2 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses on Friday, the Union Health Ministry data said. According to data shared on the Co-WIN portal, the total number of shots administered on Friday till 7.40 pm was 22,231,319.

Taking to Twitter, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said (in Hindi): “A gift to the Prime minister on behalf of health workers and people of the country. On the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, India has crossed the historic figure of administering 2 crore vaccine doses in a day, setting a new record. Well done India!”

The BJP had asked its units across the country to help get a large number of people vaccinated on this day. A 20-day mega event — “Seva and Samarpan Abhiyan” — has also been planned by the BJP to mark his 20 years in public service. During this mega outreach programme that will continue till October 7 — the day Modi was sworn in as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 — the party will hold massive cleanliness and blood donation campaigns, and send five crore postcards to the Prime Minister to congratulate him for his efforts.

Sulabh undertakes cleanliness drives to mark Modi's birthday

Sulabh International celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 71st birthday Friday by organising cleanliness drives at 71 locations in Uttar Pradesh. The NGO which runs a toilet network across the country performed drives in Lucknow, Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra, Kanpur, and Jhansi, among other places in Uttar Pradesh to mark the day as "Swachhta Divas", a press release issued by it said. "As an NGO working in areas of sanitation and water for more than 50 years, we worked with all partners - in line with prime minister's vision - to take the ODF India to the next level for its sustainability," Bindeshwar Pathak, founder of Sulabh Sanitation and Social Reform, who formally launched the nationwide programme virtually, said. Union Minister Kapil Patil Friday inaugurated 100 Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha offices to mark the 71st birthday of PM Modi, news agency PTI reported. At a function in Badlapur, Patil said 200 more offices will be opened in next two days. He also inaugurated 11 'Rupee One' clinics in his Lok Sabha constituency Bhiwandi. PM's 71st birthday: Ahmedabad civic body plants 71k saplings to create 'Narendra Modi forest'

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Friday undertook a drive to plant 71,000 saplings to mark the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with participants including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Daily Covid-19 vaccination crosses 1-crore mark for fourth time

Daily Covid-19 vaccinations crossed the one-crore mark for the fourth time in less than a month, taking the total number of doses administered in the country to over 78 crore, the Union health ministry said on Friday. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said this is the fastest pace at which one crore doses have been administered. "On PM @Narendra Modi Ji's birthday, till 1:30 pm, the country has crossed the mark of 1 crore vaccines, the fastest so far, and we are continuously moving forward. I believe that today we will all make a new record of vaccination and give it as a gift to the prime minister," he said in a tweet in Hindi along with the hashtags "VaccineSeva" and "HappyBdayModiji". BJP eyes mega event on PM Narendra Modi's birthday

Leaders of the ruling BJP have been urged to promote Covid-19 jabs and state officials have been told to double the daily rate. The BJP, which has set a target of 2 crore doses for today, has trained around eight lakh volunteers. During the 20-day mega outreach programme that will continue till October 7 - Narendra Modi was sworn in as Gujarat Chief Minister on that day in 2001 - the party will hold massive cleanliness and blood donation campaigns, and send five crore postcards to the Prime Minister to congratulate him for his efforts as "party members commit themselves to public service".

Health camps will be held in districts while food will be distributed under the 'Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana', with women leaders playing a key role. On Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, a massive cleanliness campaign will be held and a public message will be sent out, encouraging the use of Khadi and local products. Children who have been orphaned due to Covid will be registered by the BJP workers so that they can get benefits from the PM-CARES fund.

According to the BJP, all gifts received by the Prime Minister will be auctioned on the government website- pmmemontos.gov.in.

Wishes poured in from across the country on PM Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday. “Happy birthday and best wishes to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. I wish you good health and long life and continue to serve the nation with your well-known spirit of 'Aharnisham Sevamahe',” tweeted President Kovind.

Home Minister Amit Shah lauded PM Modi, saying he not only gave the country the idea to think ahead of time and prove its resolve with hard work but also made it a reality. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari prayed for the prime minister's health and long life. "Happy Birthday, dear Narendra bhai. The immense patriotism, the readiness to work hard, the ability to make decisions and the self-confidence shown by you to take India to the highest glory is unprecedented. May you stay healthy and live long and under your leadership the dream of self-reliant India will come true," Gadkari tweeted.

Rahul Gandhi, too, wished him on his birthday, keeping his message short and simple: “Happy birthday, Modi ji.”
