    Google employee from Bengaluru tests positive for coronavirus

    • A fifth person in Karnataka diagnosed with the novel coronavirus Covid-19 has been identified as an employee of Google.
    • "We can confirm that an employee from our Bangalore office has been diagnosed with COVID-19."
    • "They were in one of our Bangalore offices for a few hours before developing any symptoms," the Google spokesperson said in a statement.
    • The employee has been on quarantine since then.

    • One person is admitted to the Pariyaram medical college in Kannur and has a travel history from Dubai
    • The other patient is in the isolation ward at Thrissur general hospital and has travelled to the state from Qatar.
    • According to reports, the Thrissur patient is said to have travelled in the same flight taken by the three member family from Italy who arrived at Kochi on February 29
    • Vijayan said 270 people are in isolation wards at various hospitals across the state.

    Armed Forces set up quarantine facilities in seven more cities

    • New coronavirus quarantine facilities have been set up in seven cities located across the nation by the Indian Armed Forces
    • It will accomodate nearly 400 Indians who are expected to return from Iran.
    • "In the next two to three days, we are expecting more citizens to come back to India. We have prepared new facilities at places including Jodhpur, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Kolkata, Jaisalmer, Chennai and Deolali where we can quarantine these people," Army spokesperson Col Aman Anand said.
    • "We already have 265 citizens in our two facilities at Manesar in Gurugram and Hindon in Ghaziabad," he added.
    • Due to the large scale prevalence of the coronavirus around the world, Indian citizens who were in countries like China (Wuhan) and Iran were evacuated by Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft.

    Depth of economic slowdown depends on response: IMF

    Europe furious over Trump's unilateral travel ban

    • European officials reacted with surprise and anger on Thursday after US President Donald Trump imposed a trans-Atlantic travel ban.
    • Trump closed US arrivals to travellers from the Schengen border-free zone -- which does not include Britain and Ireland.
    • Move comes as an "aggressive" effort to contain the spread of the often deadly disease.
    • "The coronavirus is a global crisis, not limited to any continent, and it requires cooperation rather than unilateral action," EU chiefs Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel said.
    • "The European Union disapproves of the fact that the US decision to impose a travel ban was taken unilaterally and without consultation," the presidents of the European Commission and European Council said.
    • "The European Union is taking strong action to limit the spread of the virus," they insisted.
    • Trump said the ban on travellers from the zone would come into effect at midnight Friday, and would not affect US citizens returning from Europe.
