EXCLUSIVE: Resident Evil franchise star Milla Jovovich, Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia 2, War Horse), and Awkwafina (Ocean’s Eight, Crazy Rich Asians) are heading to Paradise Hills, the sci-fi thriller from first-time director Alice Waddington. The group joins Emma Roberts, Eiza Gonzalez, and Danielle Macdonald in the film, which is currently shooting in Spain.
The pic is set in the not-too-distant future and follows Uma (Roberts), who wakes up one morning in Paradise Hills, a high-class treatment facility on an isolated island where well-off families send their daughters to be reformed.
Colossal helm Nacho Vigalondo co-wrote the screenplay with Brian Deleeuw based on an original idea from Waddington and Sofia Cuenca. Adrián Guerra and Nuria Valls are producing the project via Nostromo Pictures.
Lionsgate is handling international rights while CAA reps U.S. rights.
Jovovich is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman; Awkwafina by UTA, Principato-Young Entertainment, and Schreck Rose, Dapello, Adams; Irvine by UTA, Independent Talent Group and Schreck Rose Dapello.
