Five things to know about Pehredaar Piya Ki's new version

Sony TV's Pehredaar Piya Ki died an untimely death, as the show drew a lot of criticism from the audience for its regressive content. However, now the makers are all set to be back with a revamped version of the show on the same channel.

Here are five things you would like to know about the upcoming show on Sony TV.

1. Pehredaar Piya Ki turns Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya: With a couple of new actors and a tweaked storyline, Pehredaar Piya Ki makers have revamped their show with a new title Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya.

2. Tejasswi Prakash is back as Diya: Actress Tejasswi Prakash who played a 20-year-old bride to a 9-year-old Ratan is currently shooting for the new show in Bikaner. Her character's name is the same as in Pehredaar Piya Ki, i.e Diya. But this time she will play a girl with a modern outlook.

3.Rohit Suchanti as Ratan: Earlier, there were speculations that Khatron Ke Khiladi winner Shantanu Maheshwari will play the grown up Ratan but the makers have roped in Saath Nibaana Saathiya's Rohit Suchanti to play the male lead. Rohit will be the new face of Ratan (formerly played by Afaan Khan), who returns after completing his studies in a foreign university.

4. Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya is not a sequel to Pehredaar Piya Ki: Unlike the ongoing speculation, makers have made it clear that this show will not be a sequel to the previous show but will have a fresh storyline with the same star cast. The story will start from the scratch and will not show any kind of leap or flashbacks.

5. Finite series: Set in Rajasthan, Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya will be a finite series and revolve around Diya's promise given to a dying man. Just like the previous show, Diya will again play the protector of Ratan, which is quite contrary to the conventional perception and societal norms.
