A case has been filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for insulting the national flag during the International Yoga Day.

Prakash Kumar, resident of Pokhraira village, has filed a case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Muzaffarpur district of Patna.

The petitioner has accused Modi of showing disrespect to the national flag on International Yoga Day (June 21). Kumar claims that the Indian PM used the flag like a mere piece of cloth by sitting on it and using it to wipe his hands and face.

"Modi's acts were an insult to the national flag and it hurt millions in the country," Kumar said.

He has also submitted a series of pictures downloaded from the internet as evidence in support of his petition.

The court will be hearing the case on July 16.

POURING CASES FOR MODI THIS MONSOON

This is not the first time Modi has been accused of being disrespectful towards the national flag.

Earlier in April, another complainant Ashish Sharma had claimed that Modi insulted the national flag more than 20 times on the International Yoga Day last year.

"On that day (international yoga day) PM was wearing the tricolour which is the national flag of India. The PM cleaned his face and sweat of his body all over and clean his nose as well, he wiped his face with national flag in front of the world. All the media worldwide as well as Indian Media took photos of PM insulting our national flag," Sharma said.

Sharma had also has sought registration of an FIR against the Prime Minister. The court fixed the matter for July 30.
