Recently, Zoom Digital did an exclusive interview with Sonalee. And the actress opened up about being mistaken for Sonali Kulkarni, who has done a couple of Bollywood films, including Dil Chahta Hai.
While talking about the initial hardships of her career, the actress said she had to work harder to develop her separate identity from Sonali Kulkarni 'senior'.
"She has her own identity. To still enter the industry, having the same name, taking the decision confidently that I am not going to change my name, retain it and see what happens because we belong from different generations - to have the kind of confidence, to believe that I will be able to carve my own journey was a big challenge. But that has kind of worked well because I was lucky in the initial time of my career. After Natarang, my own identity was formed so the confusion went away," said Sonalee.

On being asked if people mistook her for Sonali Kulkarni, the actress said that it has happened a lot of times and now it has become very 'casual'.
"Initially, it used to be a hassle. Now we have learnt to take it in a light way. Initially, there was a lot of confusion and we have grown up now. Even people around us now know that our identities are separate. And the funniest part is even if we have the same name, it cannot happen that I am doing her role by mistake or she is doing my role. It is just not possible. We are (from) two different generations," she added.
