Actress Sonalee Kulkarni is amongst the top actresses of today in the Marathi entertainment industry. Born and raised in Pune, the actress first started off her career as a model and then was featured in songs before she got her first film! Born to a Punjabi mother and a Marathi father, Sonalee is a mix of Punjabi beauty with a Marathi flavour. She has acted in several films over the years and a lot of them have made her more popular. One of Sonalee’s latest films, Dhurala came out in 2020. It is a proper political drama revolving around a village named Ambegaon where its head dies and leaves behind a huge power struggle within his family. With the spot of the leader now empty, a lot of forces are vying for the throne. Directed by Sameer Vidhwans, Dhurala received a good rating by critics and viewers alike as it showed many layered and realistic characters. Sonalee plays the role of Monica, the daughter-in-law of the family who is ambitious and is also one of the several people eyeing the title of Sarpanch!

Ti and Ti

A romantic comedy film shot in London, Ti and Ti revolves around one man (Pushkar Jog) who visits London with his wife (Prarthana Behere) for their honeymoon and crosses paths with his childhood crush there! Sonalee plays the role of the childhood crush to whom the hero is drawn to even though his wife is around! Will he be able to stay faithful and keep his heart with his wife?

A 2017 multi-starrer, Hampi revolves around a trip to the titular, Hampi, in Karnataka. A group of young adults visit Hampi and discover themselves and life. Sonalee plays the role of Isha, a quiet girl who is on the trip to ponder about life. She meets Kabir (Lalit Prabhakar) and learns how he finds happiness every day in the smallest things. Will she be able to learn from him? The film also stars Prajakta Mali!

Natrang

Natrang is a widely acclaimed film that featured Sonalee as Nayana Kolhapurkarin, the lead dancer of a theatre troop. She featured in the famous song, “Apsara Aali” which she performed so well that audiences across the state began to call her Apsara! All of her dance acts were well-liked and she received a lot of accolades for this film. The film is an adaptation of a 1978 novel of the same name. It revolves around Guna (Atul Kulkarni), a labourer who is out of work and starts a theatre company with his friends. Natrang won the National Award for the Best Marathi film!
