The 2023 Oscars took place earlier today and for Deepika Padukone, it was her first time walking the surprisingly Champagne-coloured ‘red’ carpet. The 36-year-old recently made history when she was chosen to present an award at the prestigious ceremony, making her the third Indian actor to do so.

For her debut, Deepika Padukone chose two brands she very much trusts to dress her for the event. Louis Vuitton and Cartier—two brands she acts as an ambassador for. Padukone elevated the ‘long black dress’ with the off-shoulder, velvet number that featured a mermaid silhouette. Vogue India brings an exclusive look at the original sketch of Deepika Padukone's Louis Vuitton gown.

She completed her look with matching velvet gloves. For jewellery, she opted for a statement Cartier necklace that featured a stunning pear-shaped yellow diamond in the centre. The gloves were further complimented by a matching diamond bracelet and ring.

Her old Hollywood glamour look was the mood board for her makeup as well. The actress flaunted an Audrey Hepburn-esque cat wing, contoured cheekbones and matte pink lips. The actress also gave her fans a peak at her new 82°E tattoo, in honour of her skincare and wellness brand.

When it was her time to take the Oscar stage, the actor gracefully took the mic to introduce the highly-anticipated performance of “Naatu Naatu” and the historic nomination of RRR in the Original Song category. Honestly, it was a smart move from the Academy to have an Indian actor do the honours to avoid any culture appropriation remarks or cringe-worthy mispronunciations. The song, performed by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava and a crew of dancers, received a standing ovation from the crowd.
