“I'm so unapologetically myself, I think it's the reason why people like the way I dress,” Sonam Kapoor Ahuja told Vogue during a live conversation on Instagram. Whether its soon-to-be-launched collections or custom couture, the Bollywood actor has a knack for making every look her own. Saris worn with overcoats, ready-to-wear dresses styled with vintage gloves and making kaftans wedding-ready, are just some instances that prove her love for pushing the envelope on tried-and-tested looks. The risk-taker has laid enough groundwork for you to take the classic sari to the next level. Ahead, we round up some of the star's styling tricks to reinvent the look for yourself.

While there's no dearth of eclectic prints and bohemian silhouettes from Masaba in the actor's wardrobe, she is also the perfect muse for any designer to showcase their versatility. Case in point: This ethereal organza sari with delicate floral embroidery from the MasabaxRhea collaboration. The tie-up detail and extended bell sleeves took the look intro a retro direction, amplified with Kapoor Ahuja's choice of bouffant hairdo and winged eyeliner.

2. Don't be afraid to play with your drapes

For Armaan Jain's wedding reception, the star handpicked a piece from Good Earth's first-ever couture collection. Kapoor Ahuja made the ivory sari—dotted with gota patti details and gold border—her own by styling it with old-world accessories like a lilac metal frame pouch and a hand fan. Also equally noticeable was the star's front drape—over one shoulder and back over the other, showing off the piece's intricate design over the pallu.

3. Double up on the print

Worn with a high-neck blouse featuring full peasant sleeves, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja's handblock printed sari makes a great pick for anyone who likes experimenting with unpredictable patterns. When in doubt, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja turns to Anamika Khanna. The designer's traditional jackets, whether worn over saris or kurtas, are a big hit with the star. With this white sari that highlighted Khanna's signature delicate resham embroidery in floral and paisley motifs, the actor layered with a jacket covered in intricate thread and mirror work, along with fun tassel and pom pom details on the hemline. From festive parties to winter weddings, take cues from Kapoor Ahuja's way of playing up the six-yard drape.

5. Wear with a blouse that has the most unexpected sleeves

For the screening of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, the actor picked a buttery yellow custom Masaba sari with lines of script in Tamil running through it in stripes. What stood out even more was how Kapoor Ahuja paired the drape with an organza corset blouse in the same print, featuring sheer off-shoulder balloon sleeves that added a modern spin to the look. Downplaying with her accessories, the star proved how interesting prints can make an equally impactful statement.
