What is the meaning behind the flag's colours?

  1. Orange: This represents the land (Northern Savannas), fertility, and Cote d'Ivoire's fight for independence. It symbolises the country's determination to overcome adversity and establish its own identity.
  2. White: This represents the white lagoon. The colour symbolises peace in purity and unity of hearts. It's a reminder of the importance of harmonious collaboration among the nation's diverse population.
  3. Green: The vibrant colour signifies hope, the nation's lush forests, and the promise of a bright future. It's a shade of optimism reinforcing the country's commitment to progress, development, and the well-being of its people.

The flag was adopted on December 3, 1959, just before the nation gained independence from France in 1960.
