Resort view!

Out of 600 islands in the group in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, only NINE are open for to international travellers after they obtain a permit. Out of that 9, Havelock is the most famous and visited one.

The Indian government has been advocating eco-friendly tourism development on Havelock for a while now, so if you visit this paradise, please do not leave your trash anywhere on the island.

How to Reach?

The best way to reach is to take a flight to Port Blair and catch a government run Ferry to Havelock Island from there.

You can also book Cruize from makruzz or by greenoceanseaways. They have very good facilities and according to your budget you can book classes in these cruise. Check their prices visiting their website.

Or If you have enough money with you and want to see this majestic island from above then you can avail chopper services from Port Blair.

The best way to explore this island is by renting a scooter, which usually costs INR 300 to 500 Rupees per day. You can rent scooter from your hotel reception or also from Havelock jetty.

Where should you stay?

There are numbers of resort, huts and hotels in Havelock island.

I’ll suggest you to book resorts near by jetty. I stayed 3 days in Havelock and booked 2 resort at different locations, 2 days in Havelock Country Homes and 1 days in Shangrilas beach Resort.

You can also stay nearby radhanagar beach. There are lots of option nearby this beach.

The Beaches and what to do where:

There are tons of beaches in Havelock but I have listed 5 most popular and beautiful beaches here:

1. RadhaNagar Beach

It is one of best beach of world as per ranking. Water is crystal clear, sand is different from other beach and shore is long to take a good walk around it. Better to go afternoon and spend time till sunset.

Serenity at its peak!

It has probably one of the longest white soft sand beaches, with waves that are big enough for surfing.

The sun sets here giving a full unhindered view to the enthralled onlookers. There are a lot of eateries outside on the road and sufficient parking spaces.

You can easily spend here 4-5 hours. Lat bath facilities available here. It is very neat and clean beach.

Incline table/ chair are not available here so you have to sit in shadow of trees on extreme left or ride side of beach.

2. KalaPathar Beach

Kalapathar beach in havelock island is a beautiful sun rise location. It is a white sand beach with blue waters which you can see if you have a good sun shine.

The shore of the beach is decorated with dead corals which gets washed out from sea bed. You can go around the beach looking for different kinds of corals.

Peaceful!

The route from havelock jetty to the beach gives you a feeling of driving through a forest. The road was quite bumpy in the last stretch.

People who wish to go for sun rise needs to reach this location by 4:15 and should drive carefully.

The direction and distance to the beach was mentioned all along the route, so there is no need for GPS if you are hiring a scooter.

3. Elephant Beach

Once there were elephants at this beach that's why it got name elephant beach. Elephant beach is famous for water sports activities ( snorkelling, jet ski, banana ride, scooter ride, parasailing etc.).

There are two ways to reach here one is by boat (950/ person) another through forest trekking ( 500₹ for guide for all). If you are fit can go through forest it is adventurous and economic as well.

Beach remains open till 3 pm so better to reach there till 9 am to get enjoy of water sports activities. Price for water sports activities are high here compared to Neil Island.

Snorkelling is must to do here gives view of lot of different corals with fishes. Depth of water near shore is till your waist that’s why it creates here natural swimming pool.

I did swimming here around 2 hours and still remember. It will better you get your own snorkelling instrument because it will help you not only on this beach but on other beaches also.

Swimming goggles is must to bring here if you want to enjoy here in free. Lat bath facilities available here. No restaurants is here so bring your own food Though you can get coconut water here.

4. GovindNagar Beach

Most of the hotels and resorts are located near this beach.I also stayed in Shangrila beach resort near the beach.Generally people visit Radhanagar, Elephant beach and Kalapathar beach.
