Translated as small, the ChikkaTirupathi temple is actually the miniature of the main Tirupathi temple in Andhra Pradesh. It is believed, one should visit this temple before visiting Tirupathi temple to get the blessings of the Lord. As for the history of this temple, it was constructed during Cholas period. As per temple history records, in Hindu Epic Mahabharatha - Lord Agni (god of fire) during Kandava Dahana - was punished with a curse from a snake "Takshak". To overcome this, lord agni conducted hard meditation of Lord Vishnu. Pleased with his praying, Lord Vishnu appeared before Agni and blessed him with curse redemption. Suffused with such a history and mythology, this temple inspires imagination as well as reverence.
