Suvendu Adhikari has defeated West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram.

"Respect the verdict of people of Nandigram, but have got landslide victory in Bengal,"  Mamata Banerjee said after the poll results.

The CM said she will move court against 'mischief' in Nandigram.

TMC will approach Election Commission to challenge Nandigram result, party leader Derek O'Brien said.

Suvendu Adhikari took to Twitter to thank people of Nandigram for "their love, trust, blessings, and support".

"My sincere thanks to the great People of Nandigram for their love, trust, blessings, and support, and for choosing me as their representative and the MLA from #Nandigram. It is my never-ending commitment to be of service to them and working for their welfare. I am truly grateful!" he said.

The result came in after 17th round of counting.

The Nandigram result has not been officially declared yet, and there are claims disputing the BJP victory. — With PTI inputs
