Lager Beer

Beer virgins mostly start out with drinking lager. Lagers are crafted using bottom fermenting yeast with a lower alcohol tolerance, often boast a light and slightly malty flavour profile.

Stout Beer

According to the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP), stouts are a “sweet, full-bodied, slightly roasty ale that can suggest coffee-and-cream, or sweetened espresso.” A dark colour of a stout might make it look intimidating but stouts carry sweetness from unfermented sugars that offset any bitterness.

Porter Beer

They are dark in colour like stouts due to ingredients like chocolate or dark-roasted malts. Porters tend to taste more chocolatey than coffee unlike stouts. It was developed in England in 18th century.

Wheat Beer

These originated in Bavaria, and is a top-fermented ale that uses 30% wheat in the brewing process. There are various styles of wheat beer such as Hefeweizen, American Wheat, Dunkelweizen, Witbier.

Pilsner

The most popular style of beer in the world, it originated in Czech Republic and falls under the category of lager. In the 1800s, while lager wasn't new, Pilsner emerged as the first pale variant, diverging from the dark lagers.

Indian Pale Ales (IPA)

IPAs, with their wide range of styles, draw their distinct flavours mainly from hops, offering herbal, citrus, or fruity notes. Their bitterness and alcohol content vary based on the hops used, resulting in variations from pure citrus to intense bitterness. Popular ones include West Coast IPA, British IPA and New England Style IPA.

Sour Beer

Sours have an acidic and tart taste, that is done intentionally by allowing wild yeast strains or bacteria into the brew. Brewing a sour beer is specialised because of the risks involved. Popular sour beers are Gose, Berliner Weisse, Flanders Red.
