New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) West Bengal secretary Jishnu Basu on Tuesday fanned the National Register of Citizens (NRC) issue and said that it is the only option to “save Bengali Hindus” from annihilation from West Bengal. He also said that the Citizenship Amendment Bill would help the Bangladeshi Hindus who have faced atrocities coming to India.

Basu said, “NRC is the only option to save Bengali Hindus from annihilation from West Bengal. Bangladeshi Hindus who have faced several atrocities are coming here and Citizenship Amendment Bill would be helpful for them.”

However, if Bangladeshi Muslims come to West Bengal, then in many districts Hindus are becoming a minority, Basu further said. “If we don't have NRC, we will not be able to assess the no. of infiltrators,” RSS West Bengal secretary said. He said the bordering districts in West Bengal are most affected areas.

Basu said, “We are trying to make small groups help propagate facts about NRC and Citizenship Amendment Bill. We are a social organisation, we can only make people aware of facts.” The NRC process in Assam triggered controversy when it released its final draft of citizens, which excluded 40 lakh population of the state out of 3.2 crores.

He told the Economic Times, that they will take all efforts to convince people and implement NRC in Bengal. He said, "Without NRC, there is no way that can save this state from Bangladeshi Muslim." Basu said, "We will see till the end of this and fight till the last drop of our blood remains."
