Sunny Beach holidays from £174pp as Bulgaria is added to the green list – and you DON’T have to be jabbed to go

BULGARIA was added to the UK's green list last night, meaning Brits can return to the popular Sunny Beach resort from next week.

Even better - Brits don't need to be vaccinated to visit.

Tourists entering Bulgaria only need to have a negative Covid test - either a PCR 72 hours before travel, or an antigen 48 hours before travel.

While double-jabbed Brits can avoid the test requirements, it is great news for families wanting to visit who haven't been fully vaccinated yet.

However, Brits won't be able to use the NHS app as proof of vaccination, and will have to request a letter from the NHS showing evidence of both jabs.

The FCDO updated the rules earlier this month, which state: "The Bulgarian authorities have stated that only the letter version of the NHS Covid Pass is acceptable as evidence of vaccination.

"The digital app, or a print-out of the app version, does not meet their requirements."

Sunny Beach has long been popular with Brits who love a package holiday, with the beach resort often found to be the cheapest destination in Europe, and even dubbed the "new Magaluf" hanks to bargain booze.

Holidaymakers wanting to head to Bulgaria can fly direct with Ryanair or Wizz Air, taking around three hours, while Jet2, TUI and Thomas Cook have cheap package deals - here are some of the best deals you can nab right now:

Bulgaria was added to the green list last night along with Croatia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, with the new rules in place from July 19.

It is bad news for Brits in Spain, however, as the Balearic Islands were moved from the green list to the amber list.

Confirming the update - first revealed yesterday by the The Sun - Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: "Travel is not the same as it was before the global pandemic.

Under new rules coming in next week, double-jabbed Brits will still be able to take advantage of the holiday destinations without the need to quarantine on return.
