- 2. Rabindranath Tagore(7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941) ● Rabindranath Tagore originally wrote in Bengali, but later reached a broad audience in the West after recasting his poetry in English. In contrast to the frenzied life in the West, his poetry was felt to convey the peace of the soul in harmony with nature. ● poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer,stories,drama and painter. ● He write about social issues.
- 4. Rabindranath Tagore Poem Deeno Daan goes viral at 120 years ● Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone in Ayodhya for the Ram temple on 5th August which received mixed reactions from Indians.
- 5. ● A day after the public ceremony, a 120-years old poem written by Rabindranath Tagore has gone viral on social media. ● The reason: Tagore's poem 'Deeno Daan' has resemblance to the present times we live in.
- 6. ● In 'Deeno Daan', Tagore writes about a sage who criticizes a king for getting a temple built in the name of God using “two million gold coins” while turning away the poor during a drought. And so, the sage goes on to say that the temple has no God but only “royal pride”.
